Oscar Wilde（奧斯卡．王爾德）
1854年，奧斯卡．王爾德（Oscar Wilde）出生於愛爾蘭的都柏林，是知名的劇作家、小說家、詩人和幽默家。他最有名的劇作是《不可兒戲》，共有九本戲劇作品，《道林．格雷的畫像》是他生平唯一一部小說。他也創作許多童話故事，像 《快樂王子與其他故事》；但他表示這些故事不是為兒童而寫，而是為「童心的大人」所作。 王爾德的父親威廉．王爾德爵士是知名的眼科醫師，母親珍．懷爾德是作家。王爾德在學校時，希臘文和拉丁文表現優異。他先是拿到愛爾蘭都柏林學院攻讀古典文學的獎學金，後來又拿到牛津大學的獎學金。王爾德畢業之後，移居倫敦，和一位受歡迎的肖像畫畫家友人法蘭克．邁爾斯同住。1881年，他出版了第一本詩集。 1882年，王爾德搭船前往紐約，展開在美國的巡迴演講。他抵達時，對紐約的海關官員說了一句有名的話：「我無可申報，除了我的才情。」1884年，王爾德結婚，生有二子。1887年．他擔任新發行的時尚雜誌月刊《女性世界》的編輯。 王爾德繼續創作，他的諸多作品震撼了維多利亞時代的社會，但仍廣受歡迎。他雖然功成名就，在1890年代，卻飽受醜聞的困擾。1895年，他遭到逮捕，入獄兩年。1900年，在潦倒中離開人世。
